Looking for any sibling connection for my gggrandfather Daniel Condon (abt. 1818) and his son Jeremiah Condon (abt. 1854) & Ellen Foley Condon who lived in Blarney, Co. Cork. Not sure of townland of their birth, but likely still in Co. Cork.  I am in contact with present Condon relations living in Blarney.

Hoping to take trip to Ireland in summer or fall would be great to find out more info.

Slan,

Tom

  • Hi, I am still looking for James Condon of 28 Shandon Street, Cork City. I know the birth of his son David was registered in Blarney Parish Church in 1862. David was my mother's father.

Could you ask the current Condon family to get in touch with me at josephobrien@iol.ie please.

    Thank you Joseph

  • Hi Joseph!

Not sure how they can help.  My cousins & I have not located a James or son David Condon connected to our Condon line yet, but  who knows?  They attend St. Mary's in Waterloo.  Assume you found this info. via National Library of Ireland or Roscommon where films of Blarney parish records, unfortunately for me in US, appear to be located.   Curious to know, is there any other witness info. on birth?

I will forward your request.  Should you come across my Daniel & Jeremiah in your research, would appreciate you getting back to me.

  • Hi Tom,

I have looked at the Irish Family History Foundation (IFHF) website and found the baptism record of David Condon in 1862. (GRO records only start in 1864)

The address was Ballygibbon in the parish of Blarney, (RC)

His father was James Condon and his mother was Mary Hourihan. Sponsors were James and Mary Hension. The baptism was recorded as Blarney/Whitechurch.

I have the death record of 61 year old Mary Hension of Maugerton Terrace, Blarney who died on 21st dec 1898. She was the widow of James Hension. This is why neither appear on the 1901/1911 census records.

It would also appear they were already married ibefore 1862!

Hope the Blarney Condons can help with this information.

Thanks for your help and i will keep an eye out for your people.

    Thanks

    Joseph

  • My great grandfather was Jeremiah Joseph Condon of Clonmel, Co. Tipperary as far as I can tell. Also, I think his fathers name was Patrick. He emmigrated to US in the 1880's and was a police officer for the department in Buffalo, New York. I think eventually he became a detective. He was on the force when President McKinley was shot in Buffalo and there is family lore that he was on the buggy that escorted the assassin, Leon Czolgosz out of town to be prosecuted. That is all.

  • Hello distant relative! My great great grandfather is Thomas J Condon. There was a book written about him in 2019 by Dr Michael Ahearn and it’s available to purchase from the county museum in Clonmel.

I’ve made no links as of yet to any Condons in Kerry but my research is just getting started. If I find any I’ll post here. Thanks.
