Hi Marbob
Between 1821 and 1825 there were 5 John Sullivans baptised in Buttevant County Cork , so not much to go by so far, do you know when he died, if he married and where he went to live after ?

Hello Annemarie
I have sent you several messages but am not sure if you received them. John Sullivan married Johanna ? some time in the middle 1840s. Not sure if this was in Ireland or England. He joined the British army and went to the Crimean War. He and Johanna had 2 daughters Susan and Mary Jane. In1841 he was in Carlisle Barracks and Johanna and 2 girls were also in Carlisle.Susan was born in1848 in Perth Scotland and Mary Janein in Tynemouth England in 1850. John died in Chelsea pensioners home in 1872. I hope this extra information will help you find more information for me. I would like to know Johanna's maiden name and his parents names. Susan was my great grandmother and after she married Alfred Watts in London they came to New Zealand in 1874.
kind regards
Margaret

I am now browsing trough the Chelsea Pensioner records hoping that this will give an exact birth year or date for John Sullivan, 3 born in 1821 Buttevant
