Hanora Donovan - Caheragh, County Cork

hi, my name is Dan Richards and my great Grandmother was Hanora Donovan and she was married to Michael Harnedy. They were married in February of 1869 and her father is listed as John Donovan.  From the marriage certificate she is listed as 21 years old, which means she was born around 1848.   I bet your John Donovan (Hanora's brother) is my great great Grandfather.  I have a photo of Hanora if you are interested.

James and Ellen Donovan.

I have no other information about James except his name.

Ellen (maiden name unknown) was born 1789/96 Cork Ireland and died 6 Jan 1885 Waunakee Dane Co Wisconsin.  Ellen and children were in Lowell Massachusetts at time of 1850 US Census, in 1870 and 1880 census she is living at Westport, Dane Co., Wisconsin.

Known children of James and Ellen Donovan:

Hanora was born 20 Feb 1824 Co Cork, Ireland, she married Michael Bagley 1852 in Lowell Massachusetts.

Johanna was born 1825-29 Co Cork, Ireland, died 1921 Harmony, Minnesota, she married Florence Sullivan at Lowell or Boston Massachusetts.

Timothy was born 1832-34 Skibbereen, Co Cork, Ireland, died 1923 Nashua, New Hampshire, he married Sara Coyne 1856 at Lowell Massachusetts

John born circa 1834 

Jeremiah born 1837

James J born circa 1839/40 Cork, Ireland, died 27 April 1912 Cowlitz Co, Washington, he married Alice Hurley 1886 at McPherson Co Kansas.

Ellen and children earliest record is the 1850 Lowell Massachusetts census where they are found together. Have no other information about John and Jeremiah.

Hanora and MIchael Bagley are known to have lived at Lowell Massachusetts, Madison Wisconsin, Crawford County Wisconsin and Wabasha Minnesota.  Their known in no particular order were: Anna, Bridget, Catherine, Ella, Jeremiah, Mary, John, Michael James, Nora, Sara.

There is no definitive date as to when they arrived in US, various records range from 1839-1850, have not yet found a ship manifest to confirm, but the obituary of James J states he arrived at one year of age and they are all found together in the 1850 Lowell census so 1839-1850 best guess.

Of course, some of this information could be wrong.  The only link I have to Skibbereen or Caheragh are military and naturalization documents I found for Timothy Donovan, everyone else's documents simply state County Cork.
