Hello,

I am the ggg grandchild of Patrick Barry and Ellen Connelly. The Connelly family were from the townland of Inchingerig at the time of Patrick and Ellen's marriage. Patrick was from the adjacent townland of Croghane Beg. Patrck Barry's line is descended from the old West Cork Celtic Barry line of O'Baire.

Patrick and Ellen immigrated to Ontario, Canada during the cholera epidemic of 1832. I am descended from one of their oldest sons who was born in Ireland before they immigrated, William Barry.

William married Mary Mulholland whose family was also from west Cork.. Their daughter, Mary Ellen was my great grandmother. She married Bartholomew O'Connor, whose parents were from Wexford co. Ireland. Bartholomew and Mary Ellen had 11 children one of which was my grandfather William (named after Wiliam Barry) Vincent O'Connor. William vVincent immigrated to the US and eventually married an Irish immigrant from Bagenalstown, Carlow...my grandmother Elizabeth Mary O'Nolan. Their son, William James is my father.

I would love to meet my Barry and Connelly relatives.

Sincerely,

BarbaraJo O'Connor-Caisse

  • Hi Barbara,

Thank you very much for your query to Ireland Reaching Out. Could you please post this message on the Dunleckny parish profile page here: http://www.irelandxo.com/group/dunleckny-carlow

Have you checked the Canadian records for information about the cholera outbreak in 1832?

    Kind regards,

    Sinead Cooney
