I am searching for details of my great, great, great grandfather Roger Reynolds. He lived in Castletownroche in the early 1800s and was a bootmaker. In 1832 he was tried and convicted with others for riotous assembly against a local JP George Bond Low. He served six months in Cork Jail. I have found a letter dated June 1845 in the Cork Examiner giving details of an assembly in the Repeal Reading Room in Castletownroche, describing his house as being decorated with evergreens and a portrait of the famous Father Matthew.
Roger had two sons - George and John (born 1825 and 1835) and they ended up in England.
Does anyone know anything about Roger Reynolds and his family?
Thanks

Thanks for your response. One more piece of information - a cousin of my great grandfather went to Ireland in the late 1800s in search of his ancestors and was shocked to discover what he considered a criminal element (being a respectable Victorian!). He was told that Roger Reynolds had married "a woman from Skibbereen" and that some members of the Reynolds family had been transported to Van Diemen's Land for rebel activities. I have never been able to confirm this. The towns of Buttevant and Clonmel were also mentioned.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards
