I posted similar messages on my other Peter Robinson ancestors to various other Parishes.

    Casey, James - Kilbeheny

    O'Brien, Maurice - , Mitchelstown

    Sheehan, John- Churchtown

    Mahoney, Mary  - Brigown

    Barry, James - Doneraile

There are many decendants accross the US and Canada that have great info on their Peter Robinson ancestors from the time of their voyage to Canada and subsequent years, but there seems to be many stumbling blocks to determine their families and origins in Ireland. Any resources that you are aware that can help to shed some light on these family connections in Ireland would be appreciated by many.

Thank you very much for your interest.

  • Hi  Craig  There  is  an  amazing  amount  of  material  researched  both  here  in  Ireland  and  in  Canada.  The  shipping  lists  seemed  to  have  survived  very  well. The  All  he  parishes  you  mention  are  in  the  Diocese  of  cloyne  Cork  except  Kilbehenny  which  is  in  the  diocese  of  Cashel  and  Emly.  Records  for  most  Parishes  start  about  1820,  a few  1803.  I  will  ring  Cloyne  parish  office  and  let  you  know  when  the  parishes  you  mention  start.  Records  for  Kilbehenny  started  1824.

All  of  those  families  left  parents  and  siblings  in  Ireland  so  I  will  research  where  they  were  in  the  Tithes1830  and  Griffiths  valuation  1852.  So  far  I  have  found   a  Michael   Downey in  townland  of  Leap  in  Churchtown,    Will  do  more  research  on  this.  Even  though  its  hard  th  go  backwards  from  your  ancestors  who  went  out  with  the  settlers  its  possible  there  are  living  relatives  in  the  area  still.   Best  of  luck  with  your  research.  Let  me  know  how  you  get  on.

    God  bless  and  kindest  regards.

  • Hi  Craig,  Catholic  Church  records  for  The  Parish  of  Church town  started  in  1812.  You  already  have  all  the  names  and  ages,  the  one  extra  piece  of  information  you  might  get  on  it  is  a  townland.  You  can  look  up  these  records  on  www.roots.ie  or  if  you  want  to  I  will  send  you  website  and  email    for  Mallow  Heritage  tomorrow.  I  looked  up  Tithes  and  there  were  five   families  of  Sheehans  in  Churchtown  in  1833. Three  families  of  Sheehans  in  Churchtown  in  Griffiths  1852.  In  the  1901  census  one  Family  in  Ballinaboul  Churchtown. Found  no  Downeys  in  Churchtown  in  the  Tithes.  Found  five  families  in  nearby  Castlemagner  .In  Griffiths  one  Family  in  Churchtown  None  in  Churchtown  in  1901  but  they  were  in  nearby  parishes.  Will  look  up  headstone  inscriptions  for  the  area  and  let  you  know  what  I  come  up  with.

    Best  of  luck.

    Kindest  regards
