Hello Mr. McDonnell,

The family is Honora/Nora (O') Driscoll b. c.1822-1824, married to an O'Regan, first name unknown, possibly Patrick or Francis. Their daughter Mary was b. c1849 in Cape Clear. Other children include Honora/Nora (b.?), Margaret (b.?), Thomas (b.1850) and Patrick (b. c1864, possibly in New Brunswick, Canada). They emigrated to North America, but so far I have not been able to find record of their passage. Mary married my 2 x gr-grandfather James Miller, an Englishman from Cheshire in May, 1865 in Saint John, NB. The Clear Island connection is borne out by information in obituaries. Honora Driscoll (O') Regan died in Saint John NB in 1897 and is buried with her two sons who predeceased her. Daughter Nora married an American sailor named Owen Carvin and moved to his residence in Boston, Mass. Margaret's history is unknown at present.

I went to www.irishgenealogy.ie This is a free Irish government site which has records for Co. Kerry, Co. Dublin and part of Co. Cork including the area of your interest.

Go to the site search for Regan from 1820-1860 or narrow the years further and Co. Cork.

This will give you a great amount of records but if you hit Cork and Ross on the left, you will see all the parishes and the number of records by parish. You want Rath and other Islands (Cape and Sherkin).

This will reduce the number of records and you can further limit the records by adding Driscoll as an additional name.

Here is the kicker, it appears that there are gaps in the records around 1850. I did not see any likely records for your family but you should take the time to see if you have more success.

I also looked up the 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Clear Island. There are 6 Regans listed including a Patrick.http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/cork/clearisland.htm
