i am looking for information on my ancestors from Innishannon. They were Timothy O'Brien and Margaret "Peg" Walsh. The children were: Timothy 12/6/1841, Julia 7/30/1843, Joan 9/30/1845, John 3/29/1864 and my great grandmother Margaret E. O'Brien 9/15/1844. Margaret immigratedmto the U.S. and married Denis M. Coveney. Any information on the family would be appreciated. Debbie.

Debbie:
Hello again!
Innishannon RC parish is in the Diocese of Cork and Ross and records for that diocese are on www.irishgenealogy.ie which is a free Irish government site. I located the marriage record transcription which is below. Here is the link to the parish register http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0061 Records start in 1825.
I only saw baptismal records for Timothy Jr. and Joan on the site. I would look for Margaret on the parish register. Did the entire family emigrate becuase I did not see Timothy O'Brien or Brien on the 1852 Griffiths Valuation for Innishannon. Also was john born in 1864?

Hello I know there is a traditional Irish naming pattern but is there a tradition for the sponsors on RC marriage records? Baptism records? Debbie

Debbie:
No hard and fast rule for either baptisms or marriages. Sponsors could be siblings to the parents or a couple getting married. Also, close friends were another option.
