My nameis Ellen and I am from the Boston, Massachusetts USA area.
My Great Grandparents James Welch and Ellen O'Neill married August 29, 1863 in Douglas/Ballygarvan Ireland. The sponsors were John Regan and Ellen Walsh. They had Mary 1864, John 1866, Michael 1869, Hannah 1872, Maurice 1875, James 1879. I would love to know when James and Ellen were born and a date for the death. Also I want to know if you can find information on James Welch and Ellen O'Neill's parents. Any and all information would be so appreciated. This is one of my brick walls but one of the most important to solve. Also if you know or can find anyone from this family still in Ireland, I would really hope they could contact me. Please give them my email address. Like most Irish descendants I really hope you can find my ancestors.

Without knowing how old James and Ellen were when they married in 1863, it would be easier to find possible baptismal records. Unfortunately they were married about four months before civil registration started in 1864. I checked the Douglas/Ballygarvan records and there was a James Walsh baptismal record in 1840. No idea if this is your ancestor. Same with an 1845 record in Douglas (below) for an Ellen Neil.
What happened with the family? Did any of the children remain in Ireland?
