Can you please advise me on the best way of obtaining birth information on my Great Grandfather, Edward O'Keeffe. I am told he was born in Fermoy in 1867, and that his father's name was William and his mother was Mary (nee Cotter). Edward emigrated to Tasmania (Strahan?) probably sometime in the 1890's, as I have found a record for a marriage in Tasmania in 1897. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I looked for birth index records on two data bases for an Edward O'Keeffe for 1866-1868 and the only one I located was in Co. Waterford not in Co. Cork.

Thankyou so much for trying, Roger. I am coming up a blank for him, so maybe the information I have been given is incorrect and it wasn't Fermoy that he was born in. Maybe he lived there later in his life. I'll keep looking!
