I am looking for information on my great great grandparents, John Murphy and Kate Clifford, born about 1820. They raised their family in Cloughleafin, Glanworth, Cork, probably Ballindangan Church. I am seeking john and Kate's birth, marriage, death and name of parents or anything else about the family.
My great grandmother was Honora Murphy (1843-1926). She was born in Cloughleafin, Glanworth, Cork, Ballindangan Parish. She married John Fogarty of Glenlara, Limerick in Glanworth in 1865 (witnesses Denis and Bridget Murphy) and they had 3 (sponsors Hannah and John Murphy) of their 15 children born there. They moved to Mitchelstown and then to Ballinvreena, Limerick which is next to Glenlara. I have birth, marriage, death, census, and land records on this family.
Honora Murphy Fogarty’s parents were John Murphy and Kate Clifford (no birth, marriage or death records for them). John and Kate’s children born in Cloughleafin, Glanworth were- Honora married to John Fogarty, Bridget (1845-1936) married to Thomas Shanahan (New South Wales), John Murphy 1847 married to Mary O’ Brien in 1875, Johanna 1852, and Daniel 1854. Their baptismal sponsors included Bridget, John, Honora, and Daniel Murphy and Margaret Clifford. I have marriage and death records for those noted.
There is an 1825 Tithe Applotment listing for a John Murphy. Maybe John’s father?

Around the same time, a Daniel Murphy (abt. 1809-1893 per Irishgenealogy) lived in Cloughleafin. Perhaps John’s uncle, brother or cousin. Daniel married Margaret Hayes abt. 1834 (no record). They had at least 6 children (Bridget 1836, Denis 1839, Daniel 1843, Edmond 1845, James 1849, and Michael 1851). Two of their sponsors were Catherine Murphy and Catherine Clifford. I have records for the childrens' baptisms.
I don’t know anything about my Clifford family. There was a Jane Clifford, maybe Kate’s aunt, living in Cloughleafin in 1820. She married Thomas Tobin in 1823. They moved to Douro, Ontario, Canada as part of the Peter Robinson Emigration. The Clifford thatched roof house still stands in Cloughleafin.
Thank you for any assistance

Mary,
I will have a look at the Glanworth graveyard book and will let you know if I find anything. Apart from that, I would say you have got the most from the records!
Best wishes, Kieran

Kieran,
Thank you for responding back and checking the Glanworth graveyard book. I went to Cloughleafin in 2019 and met a man associated with a Clifford family but not mine. Per Ancestry, there was another Murphy family in Glanworth but we could not find a connection.
I feel lucky I have found my connection to Cloughleafin and should accept records go only so far.
Cheers- Mary

Mary,
Unfortunately, there are no Clifford families in the graveyard book. No Murphy's of Cloughleafin either. There are a couple of Murphy families but there is no address for them.
Best wishes, Kieran
