I am visiting from United States early in Sept 2013 with CIE tour. My father's ggrandmother was Frances Hagerty born about 1845 in Queenstown, Cork, Ireland. Most of the family immigrated to the US and traveled to Illinois and Iowa. One of Frances sister (Catherine Hegerty Ryan) stayed in the Ballinrostig area and died and was buried in Inch, County Cork. We think she was born about 1843. Spouse was Michael Ryan. One of the other sisters Mary Hegerty, was listed as born in Whitegate, County Cork on Nov 27,1851. The other sibling that stayed in Ireland was William Hegerty. His death place is listed as Aghada Cork Co. There was a total of 8 children. The parents were Michael Hegerty and Catherine Wall.
Hoping that some of this information would make a search possible. I know Hegerty is a common name in this area and many different spellings. Thanks so much for any help possible. Sharyn

Sharyn:
You may want to search the 1901 and 1911 censuses at www.nationalarchives.ie I looked at Ballinrostig and found a Kate Ryan age 60 a widow living with her son William (see below). There were Hegartys in the townland but did not find a William or Mary. Did they marry?
