Greetings, www.ansugan.ie provides information on our community project "An Súgán" to create a Museum of the Gaelic Revival and Irish Language in the tiny and remote village of Ballingeary, Co Cork, where the first Irish Language Teacher Training College, Coláiste na Mumhan, or the Munster College was founded in 1904. The story features many famous personalities who represented the independence movement and it is our intention to bring these stories to life using modern virtual reality techniques both on-line and within the original Coláiste building. Those with connections to the Irish language or the Independence Movement may have connections to Coláiste na Mumhan, which survives to this day providing summer schools in the Irish language. Please visit our site, we would love to hear from you. http://www.ansugan.ie

  • Dear Tim, thank you for your information and for getting in touch. What a fantastic project that I'm sure our members in Co.Cork and across Ireland would love to learn more about. I have forwarded your message to our partners in Co.Cork, Ballyhoura Community Development whom I'm sure would love to help promote your research within our platform.

    Warm regards

  • Hi Denise,

We have recently completed a detailed and successful feasibility study on the project, and are now in the process of submitting for planning approval for change of use of the building.

We will very shortly have a newsletter published to describe the project and our progress in more detail. May I post it here when we are ready?

    Also I have a question:

We will soon be moving on to looking to raise some serious funding to establish the museum, restore the building, fit it out with equipment etc. I am wondering if any of the members of this group is aware of the Irish Government Investor Visa Scheme?

    see link: https://www.irishimmigration.ie/coming-to-live-in-ireland/i-want-to-inv…

This would allow an interested party to obtain residency in Ireland, which can often result in citizenship. There are various financial requirements to do this, but one could be endowment to a historically important  project such as ours......More detail in the link. If anyone is interested to help us through this scheme we'd be delighted to hear from you! Kind Regards, Tim Twomey
