I have traced my ancestry back to a married couple, John Barry and Ellen Mullins Barry, who were in Inchigelagh from about 1820 until the late1800's. Any information about them or thier ancestors would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Susan
There are no Barry records in Inchigeelah in the Tithe Applotments but there are 175 John Barry records in Cork!
No luck in the early Irish Censuses
Griffiths Valuation (free at http://griffiths.askaboutireland.ie/) has 9 Barry records in Inchigeelagh (Part of) including 1 John in 1852

www.rootsireland.ie/ has some John Barry marriages in Cork to Ellens but no Mullins I'm afraid.
There are 4 John Barry baptisms in Cork in the 1770's to 90's - 2 in Doneraile & 2 in Mallow; all are C of I
There are 58 in 1800-20
There are 3 for Ellen Mullins in the 1790's - all from Mitchellstown & all RC.
Both sets of records seem to be from North & East Cork which doesn't include Inchigeelagh but I didn't go through all 58 records.
If you haven't already done so you might try www.irishgenealogy.ie/ (free site) which has a lot of Cork records

My 3 G grandfather (James S. Barry) was baptized 11 Jun 1826 in Inchigeelah Parish. It is my undestanding that most baptisms ocurred in the godparents parish rather than the family’s parish. I’m not sure who James’ godparents were.
James is the son of James Barry (b. Abt 1809 in Cork) and Ellen Sullivan. He married Ellen Hanlon (b. 1823 in Cork)
Family Search has the record online but the image is only available on their microfilm.

Ignore the image I attached. I did check http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/ and that record is there. Looks like his godfather was Edward Barry.
