Hello,
I am looking for information on my Great-Grandfather, Dennis HURLEY, born I think Sep. 3, 1835 in Inniscarra, Ballincollig, Cork. His Death Certificate says he was born in 1826 and his US Naturalization papers say born 1844, but I think that I have the correct date from RootsIreland. His parents were Daniel Hurley possibly born Aug. 27, 1814 in Inniscarra, Cork and Margaret Shea. Dennis died in Boston on Aug. 16, 1889.
He married Mary BARRETT, born on July 21, 1839 in Inniscarra, Cork. Her parents were William Barrett and Honora Ford. I found a Church Marriage record for Mary Barrett and a Dennis Healey Nov. 21, 1859. I think (hope), that it might be correct and that they did not spell his surname correctly. Mary Barrett Hurley died in Boston on Oct. 23, 1876.
They had 6 children:
John D. born Sep. 28, 1860
William T. born July 17, 1868, died May 15, 1936
Honorah H. born July 15, 1863, married Sullivan
Daniel W. born Apr. 20, 1867
Ellenor (Nellie) M. born Aug. 17, 1870 died Feb. 27, 1914
Katherine E. born May 12, 1873
I have an 1892 letter from Mary Barrett’s sister, Margaret Barrett Looney to one of her brothers (no name given), who had been a soldier, It lists Mary Barrett’s siblings and I found a few more on Ancestry.com:
William Barrett 1833-1914, married Honoria Reardon, 6 children
Edmond Barrett born 1834
Thomas Barrett born 1835
Mary Barrett 1839-1875 married Dennis Hurley 1835-1889, 6 children, lived in South Boston, MA
Catherine Barrett born 1837
Margaret Barrett 1842-1901 who married Dennis Looney 1844-1910
Johanna Barrett 1846- 1912 she married Patrick Murphy died 1889, 5 children, lived in Dorchester, MA
Thanks
