Hello - I am looking for information on George Maloney:

BIRTH ABT 1765 • Kilbrogan Parish, Bandon, Cork, Ireland

DEATH ABT 1830

I would like to find out who his parents are, where they are from etc. Also who he was married to.

My husband is desended from his son James Clarence Maloney, who immigrated to Canada in the 1850's.

I have attached George Maloney's pedigree for your review.

Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Assuming your ancestors were RC, the records for Bandon RC parish start in 1794. Here is a link to the parish register  http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0017   These records are also found on a free Irish government site www.irishgenealogy.ie When I entered George Maloney and searched in Co. Cork, no records came up which tells me that the children of George were not baptized in Bandon RC church. What is your source of the names and dates of the children of George?

Records would not be available for George back to 1765.

  • Good morning - I would assume he is Protestant, as his son claimed he was of that faith on census records after emigration to Canada.

  • I could not find a record on www.irishgenealogy.ie   A reference book I have indicates that records for the C of I church in Bandon go back to 1752. You may want to contact the church  http://ireland.anglican.org/information/dioceses/parish/16170

  • I have checked the register for Kilbrogan and there is no record of a George Maloney in 1765. The baptism records date back to 1752 as Roger has already noted.  The first Malony, no e, is a David, son of Peter malony, baptised 2 March 1798. Apologies for the delay, I was aware of your query but was preparing a talk! I may have time tomorrow morning to check the Ballymodan records, the second Anglican parish in Bandon, south of the river. Occasionally people swapped from side to side!

  • Hi there! Many thanks to you both for the time and assistance with looking for George Maloney. The information I have is from Ancestry. I did a quick search on your site and it looks like there was another inquiry earlier this year regarding George Maloney I have included the link. Not sure if this will help.

My husbands line starts with his son - James Clarence Maloney - wife Johanna Beckett.
