Searching for any information on Michael McCarthy, married Mary Driscoll, Clonakilty, 20 Feb 1844. Witnesses were Bartholomew McCarthy and Daniel Driscoll. Known children are Mathew McCarthy, born c. 1846, and Michael McCarthy, born c. 1859.
Mary Driscoll McCarthy appears in Cincinnatti, Ohio, USA in 1860 as a widow, accompanied by sons Mathew and Michael, and her widowed mother, Mary Driscoll. Mary Driscoll McCarthy also has a brother, James Driscoll, born c. 1816.

Thank you for your message.
As civil registration did not begin in Ireland until 1864, you will have to look for this information in church records.
Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. One website that you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. Kilgarriff belongs to the Roman Catholic parish of Clonakilty.To see what is available there, follow this link:
Most surviving Church of Ireland records are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. Here are their websites: http://www.nationalarchives.ie/ and http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42

Irish Genealogy have recently begun a project to upload church records to their website free of charge. It is an ongoing project so only a few counties have been completed so far including parts of Co. Cork. Fortunately, Clonakilty records are part of what has been uploaded.
