Michael J. MURPHY, gardener, son of Daniel MURPHY & Catherine HANAFORD bap. Kilmichael 1841: died Cambridge MA 1911

When Michael J. MURPHY died in Cambridge MA in 1911, the record gave his parents' names as Daniel MURPHY and Catherine HANAFORD. Michael had a younger sister, Mary, who never married, but worked at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Boston.  I find no death record for this woman, but on the 1900 census she was listed as a resident  ward maid at the hospital, and in 1910 as a resident nurse there.

On irishgenealogy.ie I found the following RC church records for the parish of Kilmichael/Cork&Ross:

I am assuming that these are my ancestors. Iwish I knew more about the family, i.e. did the older sibling survive, and were ther others?

Michael, who was a gardener in MA, was said to have met his future wife while attending the school in CO. Cork where her father was employed. We don't know in what capacity he was employed, but we don't think he was a teacher.  There is a separate post for this family, William MURPHY  & Ellen MAHONEY @ Co. CORK, general.  In 1868 Michael J. MURPHY married Mary A. MURPHY  @ St. Mary's Church, Cambridge, MA, where they continued to live & raise their seven children, who were:

JOSEPH C. 1869-1930, this son was said to have been sent to Ireland to attend the school from which his father had been graduated, and, presumablt, to live with his maternal grandparents.

WILLIAM DANIEL 1871-1938, married in 1896 to Bridget FARREN whose parents were immigrants from Co. DONEGAL (see a post on them @ that County site). These are my maternal grandparents.

Of my grandfather MURPHY D. MURPHY's children, only my mother had children, so, sadly, there are no living MURPHYS here from this line.

In the Cambridge neighborhood where MICHAEL & MARY (MURPHY) MURPHY lived, there were many other MURPHY families from Cork, as well as others, such as two CONNELL families from KILMICHAEL.  I have more data on these I could share, and would appreciate hearing from anyone who knows more about these people.
