My great grandfather was John Donegan from Crookstown, born in 1870.  His mother was Mary Hurley, born1849, and his father was William Donegan, born 1841. John Donegan immigrated to the USA in 1883, I believe. He married Elizabeth Murphy, born 1876, who was from Farnanes. I visited the church in Cloughduv in 2008 and got the baptismal records from Father Sullivan there. I am looking for any relatives because it looks like my great grandfather was an only child, but his baptismal sponsor was Kevin Donegan, probably an uncle, so there may still be other Donegans out there. My father is also John Donegan, born in New Jersey in 1941. His father was Humphrey Donegan, born 1905, I think, and he changed his name to John also. At this point, there are no more males with the last name Donegan in my family in the USA. I found only 1 Donegan in my search in Co. Cork, but he said he can't be related because his family is from Bantry about 20 miles away.

Elizabeth Murphy was born in the ivy covered cottage behind the yellow building in Farnanes. Peggy Buckley lived there in 2008. I don't know when she came to the USA, but she was one of the first women in New Jersey to get a driver's license.

Thanks for any help anyone can give.
