Jeremiah Murphy, Kilworth Town, Weaver

we do not appear to have a volunteer in Kilworth, the parish records for Kilworth do not appear to include deaths https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0072, 

The civil records commence in 1864 and the registration district would be Fermoy where between 1864 and 1881 there are 7 Jeremiah Murphy deaths recorded, you can reduce these down by age and then purchase the record (€4 version of register rather than full €20 version) it will be emailed to you and if you are lucky his address and who was present at death will be given to confirm the correct death, if he died in hospital you may find only the person  charge as been present at death.

The full death certs are not available free online as yet for these years and subscription sites do not record the information necessary, the church records for most Cork churches are also on this site but I cannot be sure but you can search under church records but search under civil for the 7 mentioned, the site is free but you have to go via the various queries.

Where did you get an 1851 census for Kilworth as it is not listed on the NLI Census site here.

Thanks for responding. I had actually noted down those death entries in the Civil deaths, so I may just have to bite the bullet and order them and hope that one of them is him.

I was hoping there may be a cemetery in the area and gey my hands on an index or something.

thanks for the info and getting back, good luck in the search, there may not be a headstone but if you put Kilworth into Facebook there is at least 1 by 15 minute viedeo on the history of the place. Did not see a genealogy page but there is probably a Cork one but it is out biggest county so may be busy.

I find the local library can be very helpful and in most places over the last 10 years books have been produced about the parish so you may get lucky with headstones or school attendence records.

Kilworth has and had a military barracks but not sure if that had any effect on the weaving, Fermoy is the nearest large town so that might help any searches.

Mary Doherty/Murphy died on 11 March 1899 in Saint Joseph's Home Portobello Road Kensington London (I have a digital image of the death entry - confirming her as the widow of Jeremiah Murphy a weaver of Cork) , after William Murphy emigrated to Queensland, Mary lived with Joanna (Hanna/Annie) Murphy who married Peter Ready (see 1891 London Census) Peter and Hanna both died of pneumonia in October 1892, their 4 children were then listed on the paupers register. 

Annie Ready is listed as the next of kin on my great grandfathers army record. 

The marriage of Peter Ready to Hanna Murphy showed Jeremiah as deceased (2 October 1880) - but I can't trace his death anywhere. I have ordered the marriage certificate of William Murphy to Mary Mathews to see if Jeremiah is listed as deceased on that too.

I went back to Kilworth 2 years ago!
