Looking for any information regarding my 2 X great grandmother. Mary Ann Ralph b.1800 Charles Fort Kinsale Cork. Parents were: Charles Ralph and Ann Brown. Charles was a soldier in the 13th Regiment of Foot. They had six daughters born all over the world, but two were born in Ireland. My 2xgreat grandmother, Mary Ann and her sister Anna Maria b.1797 Wexford, d.1798 Waterford. If anyone can help to locate the records for these two births and 1 death, I would be most grateful.

Hi Ducie,
Thanks for your message.
Civil registration did not begin in Ireland until 1864. Until then it was the parish church that collected and recorded such information so this is where you will have to look for them.
I see that you do not mention a parish name for Anna Maria-only county names. Without a parish name it may be difficult to find her records. It should be more possible for Mary seen as you know she was born in Kinsale.
Most Catholic records are held locally, so it may be an idea to write to the parish priest for possible assistance. One website which you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Kinsale follow this link:
For Church of Ireland records check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/. The Anglican Record Project is has created an index to their records: http://ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/AngRecord/bunclodyunionindex.pdf
You could also try searching online for records at the following sites:
www.rootsireland.ie (please note that you have to pay to use this website)
Alternatively you could contact Skibbereen Heritage Centre for assistance-a fee may apply. Here are their contact details:
Skibbereen Heritage Centre,
Old Gasworks Building,
Upper Bridge Street,
Skibbereen,
Co. Cork.
Phone: +353 (0) 28 40900 Email: skibbheritage1@gmail.com
I hope this is helpful.
