Trying to trace 'Cullen' Ancestors in Leitrim

Unfortunately, Michael Cullen was a fairly common name in Co. Leitrim. The 1857 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing showed 14 Michael Cullen leasing land in Co. Leitrim. 8 of the 14 lived somewhere in Cloonclare civil parish. Assuming Michael the father was leasing land in 1857, he could be one of the 14. www.askaboutireland.ie has the Griffiths data for searching.

I looked on Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie for an 1860 baptismal record for a Michael Cullen with a father Michael. No 1860 records. The closest was an 1862 record in the Cloonclare RC records.

By the way, Roots is a pay site to view transcriptions of church records. You can search the indexes for free.

Have you located the death record for the 1860 Michael Cullen? I think you need his mothers name and maiden surname to help pinpoint where the family lived. Sibling names would also help.

Thank you for your response and help, very much appriciated.

Michael Cullen (1860) died in Stockport, I will try and trace his death certificate as you suggested to see if i can find out his mother name.

I have him on various census as an adult in Stockport, which says he was born in Leitrim and his Wedding Certificate says his Father was also Michael Cullen.  But have no more details of any other family/siblings.
