I am searching for the families of Patrick McPartland b. about 1820 and his wife Jane Druey/Drury/Drewer b. abt 1825. Their first child, Katherine was born in 1845 in Ireland, there second child, John, was born in the United States. The family settled in Iowa, USA. I believe that Patrick McPartland's two younger brothers, Thomas and John, also emigrated to Iowa, USA around the same time. Some descendants believe that the families came from County Leitrim, but there is no documentation.

 Thank you for any help you may be able to provide. I have also seen Patrick's first name written as James, but in the United States he always used Patrick.

    General-North/South America: Do you know much about their emigration? The dates, the reasonwhy they left, who they may have travelled with?..etc..Generally more information was given atthe port of arrival rather than the port of departure. If you knew which city they arrived at (e.g.Liverpool, New York, etc.), this could be a good place to find more information. -And perhaps evenfind out an exact place of origin. Look at the website http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/surname/ and perhapssomething will match some other clue you may have found elsewhere? If nothing turnsup ? it is advisable to try different variations of the spellings of the names.   • Thank you so much for your reply. I will follow up on your suggestions. My best estimate for time of immigration for Patrick McPartland and wife Jane Druey is about 1845-1847. I know their first child was born in Ireland in 1844 and their second child was born in 1847 in Ohio, USA. 

      I appreciate all of your suggestions and will start working through them today.
