I am trying to trace the family of my Great Great Grandfather, RICHARD COTTER, born in Macroom in 1847.

He married JULIA CALLAGHAN (born Bridgemount, Co Cork? 1858) in September 1879 in Macroom.

They are next located in Whitechapel, London in the 1881 census.

If anyone can offer any insight as to the family background or information about other family members on both sides I would be most grateful.

I do not have any knowledge of Irish genealogical records or where to start my investigations so any guidance and help wuld be wonderful.

I look forward to hering form you :)

Below is the marriage index record for the marriage of Richard and Julia. You can write to the GRO www.groireland.ie to get a copy of the marriage record which should show the names of the fathers of the couple and where they lived in 1879.

  • Wondering if there is any record for a wedding of Thomas O'Mahony and Norah Cotter, possibly 1840-1860?

    Thanks
