my 3x Great Grandfather Daniel Lynch, left Ireland in approx (guess) 1830. He married Catharine Dowd in London in 1833. He gives his trade as Plasterer. I can find nothing about him at all, except for wedding banns and census records. Can anyone help me please? (Lynne Horspool Smith)

Your message caught my eye because my second great grandfather Daniel Lynch (born c. 1823) emigrated to Australia from Cork in 1850 where he married a Cordelia Dowd (born c. 1829 and from Athlone, Roscommon) in 1859. Interestingly, Cordelia and three sisters travelled to Australia on he same ship as Daniel.
I have always thought that Daniel and Cordelia met on the ship but now I am wondering whether it is possible that the Lynch and Dowd families knew of each other a generation earlier. By any chance, do you know anything about where Catherine Dowd came from?
