Seeking family connections, parents & siblings, of Maurice Drinnan/Drinan b. 13.6.1815 County Cork.

Maurice, along with others was convicted of house robbery on 31.3.1828, as reported in the 'Cork Constitution' on 1.4.1828 & recieved a life sentence with transportation to Australia. Maurice arrived on the ship 'Governor Ready' on 16.1.1829.

In 19.5.1846 he married Ellen Rose & had a family of 12 children: Andrew Walter b. 8.3.1847, James b. 6.4.1849, George b. 1.3.1851, Edmund b. 13.4.1852, John b. 30.6.1854, Francis Patrick b. 4.12.1857, Maurice b. 24.11.1859, Charles b. 7.8.1862, Ellen b. 14.6.1864, Elvira b. 18.12.1865, William Augustus b. 31.7.1869, Kate Mary 24.7.1871.

Maurice passed away on 2.8.1892

    You may want to search www.irishgenealogy.ie  There is a September 1815 baptismal record for a Maurice Drinan. There are other baptisms in earlier years. Looks like he was 12 when he was convicted.

  • Thanks Roger. Yes he was only a boy. He must of worked hard as he recieved his Ticket of Leave early & had the support of some very high profile men to achieve his Conditional Pardon.
