Hi I'm Sally,
My Irish history appears to have started when William and Rebecca Stoward arrived in Cork in 1717 from Taunton in England. William DOB 1687 and Rebecca (nee Housegood ) had 5 children starting with Moses George Stoward DOB from Leofane or Kinsale, Ireland in 1717 who is in my line. (Brothers were John and William, sisters Elenor and Ann. Moses married Catherine Smith in 1738 and they had 3 children, George, born 1765 in Kinsale or Leofane, Margaret in 1766 and Elizabeth in 1768.
George Stoward continues my line. Married Sarah Campion, born in Cremore in 1768 and they had 3 children all born in Cork, Moses born in 1793, Robert in 1800 (he was a Captain in 8th regiment and lost a leg at Antwerp) and Jane born 1804.
Moses married a Mary Townsend Baldwin in 1823 and they had 2 children, George born in Comcambeg Cork in 1824 and Robert in 1825.
George married Mary Evans, also from Cork born in 1840. There were both transported to Australia and to Tasmania where the had 11 children.
My line continues from their 3 child, Adah Edith Stoward born in Longford Tasmania in 1871 and who married my great-grandfather George Dennis, had my grandfather Harry Dennis and then my father Graham Dennis.

Hi Sally, George and Mary Stoward are my husbands great grandparents. Dorothea Stoward is his grandmother. I have no record of George and his brother Robert having been transported to Tasmania. Their father, Moses died in 1884 and probate in 1885 states that Robert's address was Cork at the time. Can you give me any more information about how and why George came to be in Tasmania, and did Robert end up here too. Kind Regards, Louise

Hi Sally,
Here is a link that might be of some assistance to you in your research. https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-perform-sear…
The correct name of the Townland that Moses lived in is "Concabeg" and this is in the Templeomalus area of Timoleague near Clonakilty in County Cork West..

Hi Sally,
As a member of the Ireland reaching Out team I came across your request for information this evening while researching the Stowards of Councambeg. My wife is descended from Moses Stowards. He would have been her great, great, great grandfather. Her great, great grandfather was Jonas Morris Baldwin Stoward and his son my wife's great grandfather was also Joseph Stowards who had four daughters one of whom was my wife's grandmother. Jonas Baldwin married a local Catholic Girl and we have a feeling he may have been disowned because when his first wife died we believe he went to America and remarried. Very little was known about him until lately. I have read somewhere that Moses had six children, four boys and two girls. My brother -in-law now farms the land of his great grandfather at the mouth of Cork Harbour. The homestead at Councambeg in Clonakilty is no longer extant and the land is occupied and owned by another family. My wifes aunt who died just before Christmas remebers going there a child visiting relations. She often spoke about a George who went to Australia. It is a beautiful place and very close to the sea. We walk in that region once or twice a year, our latest visit being only two weeks ago. You can make direct contact with using this email: djmshan@gmail.com
