Here goes, I'm looking for my G'mother's birth cert. Her name was Mary Catherine Sheehan, she was born to John J. & Helena FitzGerald Sheehan, supposedly in Cork City in 1889. I would like a copy. Her parent's marriage cert, their birth certs. Documentation of the line as far back as it cn be traced. Thank you, Jack MacDonald-Hilton

Jack:
Mary Kate Sheehan was actually born in May 1887. See ninth record at the link for her civil birth record.
Her parents were married in August 1884. See first record at the link. The civil marriage record shows the names of the fathers of the bride and groom.
I will leave to you to research further back. Civil registration started in 1864 so prior to 1864 you will want to look for church records. As you know, Sheehan and Fitzgerald are very common surnames which will complicate the search.
www.irishgenealogy.ie is a free site. Use the Civil Records Tab for civil records and the Church Tab for church records including records for Cork city.
Let me know if you have any questions.
