My 3xG Grandmother Honora Donovan was born around 1831 in Cork. She came to New Orleans, Louisiana to start her new life around 1849. She married a John Silva (on their marriage license she is shown as a widower - there is also a Michael Donovan listed as a witness) and had 1 daughter named Mary. Unfortunately I do not know which Parish she came from. Hoping to get some direction on my research. Thank you in advance!!

Hi Rachel, Could you please clarify the following if possible. 1. Do you know if Honora was born in Cork City or County. 2. Any idea of her mothers maiden name or even first name or her father's first name. 3. Do you know the name of the ship she travelled on and what port she landed at. 4. Do you know if Michael was a son or brother or if he came from Ireland before or after her. 5. Was Donovan her Maiden Name or her married name.
All the above questions may be needed to pinpoint the correct your Honorary as there are many within a small timeframe from 1830 - 1833 in Cork City and County. Frank Fahy (Abbeystrowry@irelandxo.com) or frankfahy@eircom.net

Hi Rachel, I know this is grasping at straws but I'm going to give it a try!!! I had a DNA match to someone from Lousiana named Roche. This person did not have any names in his tree that were familiar to me but he did have ancestors from Blarney, Cork, Ireland. One of the names is Hanora McCarthy and another name is Donovan, there are at least 2 males. Have you had a DNA test through Ancestry? Could we be searching for the same family members? Some of the names I have in my family from Cork are: John Doyle, John Scannell, and Lawrence Scannell. I believe the name Donovan comes in somehow but so far I haven't learned how.
