Looking for Annie Hennessy, born March 6, 1861 in County Cork. Emigrated to Nova Scotia with her older sister Sarah [born circa 1857], father Jamesand mother Anne Hennessy probably in 1862 or perhaps 1863. Her sister Norah, my grandmother, was born in Amherst Nova Scotia on November 8, 1864.
Parents James and Anne appear to have been born in 1821 and 1827 respectively. I do not know Anne senior's maiden name.

Hi Robert
There are 2 baptism records of James Hennessy 1821 Cork on www.rootsireland.ie/
One is Henesy & the other Hennefsy
There are 2 more James Henesys if you search 1821 + - 1 year: 1820 & 1822
I could not find a marriage record or Annie's birth record.
I searched for children of James Hennessy & Ann born Cork 1857 + - 20 years and found 3: Thomas 1873 & Mary Elizabeth 1875 (both Hennessy) & a James Henesy 1877

Hi Col,
Thanks for your input. So far none of this computes with the census records of the day for Nova Scotia, i.e., James and Anne and their two daughters Sarah and Annie. I will take a look at www.rootsireland.ie/ and see if I can find anything there.
This search was prompted by a distant cousin [Mark MacDonald] who lives in Portland, Maine. His great-grandmother [Annie] was my grandmother's [Nora] sister.
Mark has since found a census listing Anne as a widow, living nearby to her daughter Annie and her husband Edward McDonald and family.
I don't know much about my grandmother's family and have been reluctant to get into Irish records because I have heard they are complicated and expensive to access. But I will give it a try in the new year. Mark is taking a rest for the moment but he plans to start searching again next year.
