Kind RegardsHello I am hoping to break down this brick wall on my 4 x great grandmother Jane Walsh born c1805 County Cork, Ireland. She immigrated to Australia in 1833 on the passenger ship Edward Coulston. She was one of about 30 young women who came out to Australia on a Female Govenment immigration Scheme . The girls were in the care of a Lady De Bathe I assume from Ireland to Australia.
Ancestry has birthplace as Boherbue and a lot of researchers (her descendants) has this information in heir trees but there is no concrete proof that this is the same Jane Walsh.
Jane married Paul Milkins in Tasmania in 1834 and their Children's names were, Elizabeth, William, Nicolas and James, I don't kknow if there is any naming pattern in Ireland/England, Paul's parents names were Elizabeth and William I'm not sure about Nicholas and James.
I keep bashing my head against the brick wall and have no idea where else to search. I don't even know where to look for the immigration records.
Now I have discovered my ethnicity is more Irish than anything, I want to find out more about my ancestor and possibly her family.
I would appreciate any hints or tips or help.
Kind Regards Tracy

Have you got the death Certificate for Jane? The Australian death certificate gives the mothers maiden name which might help to sort out if you have the right person.
Regards for now. Anne.

Anne,
No I cannot find any record for her death. When her husband Paul died in 1876 his death record states he was a widower nothing more. I have looked for years for it hoping it will "just appear" one day but nothing at all, not even under various spellings. I have never been able to find anything on her son Nicholas either only his birth record, and no record of her son William's death either, (William is my ancestor).
The last record I have been able to find her on is on the marriage record of her son James in Victoria. There is nothing noted on his death record regarding his mother.

Assume you have tried Find a Grave? https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi
You might be surprised the history that comes up that could lead you to your past, or information to allow for a straighter search path.

Yes I have thanks BjG, I think the only places I havent really searched is the Irish sites. I have tried a few but not having much to go on is a hinderance.
