Hello Djmcstur,
I am new at Ireland Reaching Out so forgive me if I don't send this response in the proper way.
Just last night I learned new info about the birth of my John McCarthy. Since we are looking for the same namesake I just had to write. As recorded in a family book which has been brought to my attention and which lists info on his descendants of which I personally know to be correct, I now have the exact date of John's birth -- June 22, 1832. He too married a Mary. However, her surname is Connolly. I have a copy of John and Mary's wedding cert. They were married in New York October. 4, 1852. John was born in the parish of Glincor, Co. Kerry, Ireland. Mary was born March 19, 1828 in Baly Martil (Ballymartle), Co. Cork, Irland. Her father's name was William Connolly (Connelly).
Sorry we are looking for two different men. However, we may be related in some way, so keep in touch.
irelandxo.com did find a John McCarthy b. 24 June 1832 of Balteenbra, in Dunmanway, Co. Cork. Check the church register for Dunmanway. Perhaps this is you John. The difficult part is connecting the ancestor of your John to the John in Ireland. I am beginning to investigate ship records. If you know of anything that could help in that area, please let me know.
