Hello!  I am a descendant of Julia Murphy, born 1830 in County Cork, emigrated to U.S. during late 1840's/before 1853, settled in Trenton, New Jersey, married a Martin Murphy from County Kilkenny (1833-1866).  Julia had two children, John A. Murphy (1854-1874) and Julia Ellen Murphy Allibone (1856-1942), both of whom stayed in the Trenton area.

Julia Murphy's parents are listed as Johanna and Martin Murphy on Julia's marriage license in Trenton, New Jersey; however, because this license contains many errors, it is very likely that these parent names are erroneous.

Since there is more than one Julia Murphy from Cork during this timeframe, I would like to connect with any Murphy descendants who may have knowledge of a family member named Julia who emigrated to the U.S. to share further information.

Thank you for your interest and any assistance!

Julie Larkin

  • Hi Julie I just wanted to let you know if you weren't already aware that there are many FB Genealogy Pages.  There is Cork Genealogical Society / IGP County Cork, Cork Ireland City and County Matchmaker tool, DNA Facebook Group & West Cork Genealogy.  If you haven't registered your dna with Gedmatch I would suggest that you do you will get many more matches there since everyone registers their dna their.  You will be issued a Gedmatch number & this is the number you will share on the Genealogy pages!!  Good luck on your research!  I match Murphy in dna - my Gedmatch number is Z230977.
