Trying to gather info on my great-grandfather and great-grandmother. His name was James Francis Kelleher; parents were Cornelius Kelleher and Hanora(h) Callaghan. He was born July 25, 1875 in Ireland but I don't know where. On one child's birth certificate he indicates he was from Cork but that may only have been his place of departure. On Feb. 1, 1909 he married Mary A. Sullivan (born in Boston 1886 or 1887); her parents were Timothy Sullivan and Hanora White, also born in Ireland.
James and Mary Kelleher lived in Massachusetts and had, from 1910 to 1930, 12 children: James, Mary Hanora, Cornelius, John Joseph, Margaret, Alice, Helen Rita (my grandma), Paul R., Leo, Thomas W., Francis, and Virginia (who died in infancy). Also included in the 1930 census, whence all this information was confirmed for me, was listed a James Mahoney, age 28, relation: cousin. No idea which GG he was a cousin of.
Researching Massachusetts records is a bit of a trying process. I know that eventually I'll have to open my billfold but I hope to get as far as possible prior to giving the gov't more money. :) Do any of these folks ring any distant bells over there? I'd appreciate any help, ideas, pointers, or even a good joke. Thank you to all who read!

I think Co. Cork is correct. If you go to www.familysearch.org and look for birth records for James in 1875, there are about 6-7 with the spelling Kelleher or Keleher. They all appear to be in Co. Cork. The problem is which one is your James. You could contact the GRO www.groireland.ie fill out their form and ask to get a birth record for the James born 7/25/1875 and provide his parents names. Costs 4 euros.

Sam,
Found on irishgenealogy.ie for free:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_retur…
It's James Kelleher's birth entry on the civil register. Con & Johanna lived at 8 Hatton Alley in Cork No. 2 district in Cork.
I have had luck requesting DC's from the clerk in Cambridge for my ancestors for $. But it paid off with parents' names & birth places as well as addresses, COD, etc. My Kellehers were from Glantane near Mallow and my Sullivans from Whitechurch and Knocknasuff near Blarney.
Best of luck with your searches.
