Hi,
I have been researching my family tree on Ancestry.com and have come to a bit of a brick wall where it comes to my 4th great grandfather, John Flynn. I am hoping to find out more about where he and his wife came from as I cannot find anything in the records that can point to him due to the commonality of the name.
Name: John Flynn
Born: about 1821
Married: 1853 in Stepney, Middlesex, UK
Wife: Mary Sullivan (also born abt 1822 in Cork, ireland)
Residence:
1871 - St Pancras, UK, occupation wood cutter
1881 - St Pancras, UK, occupation wood chopper
Children:
Dennis Flynn, b 1857, St George in the East, Middlesex, UK ** my 3rd great grandfather**
Catherine Flynn, b 1861, St Pancras
Mary Flynn, b 1862, Whitechapel
Edward Flynn, b 1864, St Pancras
John Flynn, b 1880, St Pancras (not 100% sure he is John's son due to the big gap in ages of children, but listed as son in 1881 census record)
Any help on tracing their origin would be much appreciated!
Regards,
Ruth Holcombe

Hi Maureen,
I have a grand uncle and 2nd cousins in NZ I recently found through doing my family tree :-)!
I have not tried this so thank you very much. I found there were quite a few John Flynn's in Ancestry.com when I did a search and had no idea which one would be correct. I think I need to look into ordering birth certificates or marriage certificates too. Great stuff I will have a peek at the link you have attached today!
Best wishes,
