Annie Kerry was my paternal grandmother.   She married my grandfather Arthur George Chandler, who came from Bedford in England,  in 1897,  when she was aged 20.  They had a son, my father, Arthur Bertie Chandler, two years later.  Annie Kerry disappeared off the scene until 1915 when she had a second son by my grandfather although, by that time, my grandfather had married again and had three more sons!  The second son was brought up by my grandfather's second wife as his own (noble lady!).

All of our family would dearly love to know Annie Kerry's history and what became of her.   Can anyone shed any light please?

  • Dear Anne

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the delay in getting back to you!

It would be difficult to find out what happened to Annie. Even if she had died at that point and your grandfather had remarried, there would probably not be a death or burial record as these were not generally well maintained or well kept records.

I wonder if it would be of any help to have a look at the Irish Newspaper Archives site, on the basis that there might be some information about the family. While there may not be any info about the circumstances, there might be some information or mention of Annie in another context. The Newspaper Archive is a paid site but you can subscribe for a day or a week or whatever suits you:
