Greetings,
My name is Don Bott, and I live in California. I have many Irish ancestors, and I hope to learn more about them.
This puzzle may not be easy, but I will try.
My three times great grandparents were Michael and Kathleen Daugherty (or Dougherty). My understanding is that Michael was born in 1792 and Kathleen in 1794, but I am not sure. Their daughter Ann is my direct ancestor, and she was born in 1824. In her first year of life the family moved to Scotland. Much later Ann, along with her brother Dominic (older? younger?) moved to the U.S. The Daughertys were from County Cork.
Can anyone help with this puzzle?
Thank you so much.
Don

Hi Don,
With the amount of information you already have, it should be easy to establish which is the older sibling.
The preferred BMD database is RootsIreland, and Co. Cork is relatively well covered. There is a year before which records are scarce. A Cork expert will know.
Of course, knowing the faith of your ancestors does assist.
Happy Hunting
