My great great grandfather is my brick wall. Though his name was William Henry Vane, many family members said the name was originally McVane. He was born in Ireland about 1833 and have been told it may be County Cork. He came into Castine, Maine USA and according to family lore "jumped ship", changed his name and married my great great grandmother, Sarah "Sally" Keeler in October 1853. They had 3 children Lucy E. Vane, William Henry Vane (my great grandfather) and Annie F. Vane. William left Castine shortly after the birth of the youngest child who was born in 1865 and never returned.
