John Kidney was born in June 1821, he arrived Canada in 1845, I believe he left by Liverpool. He came from Cork County as a lot of his Canada neighbors came from there. He married a girl from Scotland, Mary McKenzie, who he met in Canada. He lived as a farmer in  Saint Malachie D'Ormstown, Chateauguay, Quebec, Canada. His children's names are  Margaret, John, Catherine Caroline, Robert, Susanna, Mary, William, James Albert, and Peter Alexander Kidney. I wish I knew his parents names but I know he, John was Methodist, according to the census of 1901 of Canada. His daughter Catherine Caroline Kidney married Peter June and they had a son named Robert June who is my mother's father. I have been researching since 1982 and only found this much on him.

It would mean so much if one of the researchers on this message board could help me or has heard of him. A KIDNEY family form Cork County in Ireland.

thank you,

Carole Lynn

  • Hi Carole,

You have to be joking???  A Kidney family in Co. Cork??  Our famous Rugby coach is Declan KIdney from Co. Cork,  Maybe you are connected!!!

Anyway to start your search please keep an open mind regarding dates.  Most emigres were uneducated, undocumented and hadn't a clue what age they were.  I have had families give me dates taken from headstones which proved to be some years out.

The records for Cork are between two websites.   Www.irishgenealogy.ie   (free site for South Cork)

www.rootsireland.ie (an inexpensive site when you have narrowed down your search)

You should find kidneys on both sites.   Start by puttingin a little information and gradually refining your search,

    Happy hunting,

    Anne
