Searching for the county of origin for my gr-grandmother Bridget Donovan and for any living relatives. It is narrowed down to either Cork or Waterford. Her parents were Patrick Donovan and Mary Sullivan. Her birth date has been listed as either June 29 OR some time in Oct. in the years 1866-68 (our census records do not match...long story).
Bridget arrived in the U.S. in 1890 or 1891. She briefly lived in Philadelphia, PA followed by Honeybrook, PA and finally, Reading, PA. She married a William Killinger and may have been married before him.
Any help is appreciated. I have sent for her naturalization papers in the hopes it lists her town, but I'm not holding my breath.

If you go to www.familysearch.org and enter the names you get this baptismal index record. I also found a civil birth index record which is below. I assume this is for the same Bridget. You can go to the GRO www.groireland.ie to get a copy of the birth record for around 4 euros. Fill out their form and provide the info in the birth index record including the volume and page number.

Hello and many thanks for the reply. I do have the birth record that I ordered from Ireland in the hopes it is the correct one actually, but the confusion comes in with the different birth dates so I guess I'm looking for more verification that this is my Bridget. I'm guessing this IS her, but have no clue how to confirm it.
By the way, thank you for alerting me to the fact that there could be a christening record. May I ask what I need to do with the information found here?:

I would also love to find living relatives. Would placing an ad in the local paper at Waterford be worthwhile (I realize it's a long shot). Thanks!

Tracey:
I interpret the index record to indicate that the baptism took place in Waterford City based on the Waterford, Waterford entry. There are a number of parishes in the city but not all date back to 1866. Possibly the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity was the location. There were Donovans in the 1901 census for Waterford City. www.nationalarchives.ie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Catholic_Diocese_of_Waterford_and_Lismore
You could put an ad in the paper but I would try the library or other local organization to see if there are Donovans still in the area.
