Ireland Reaching Out - www.irelandxo.comBy all accounts my Grandfather was born in County Cork, Ireland. He was the son of Patrick and Elizabeth Clarke. To date I only have information for my Grandfather starting at Wellington New Zealand. Patrick was orphaned when he was 9years old and I have very little about his mother and nothing for his father who was said to have died in Ireland. My Grandfather was born c. 1874 County Cork Ireland. Elizabeth Clark/e nee Naylor was born c. 1842. Can anyone help me please.

By all accounts of Family History ever handed down through our Family my Grandfather was said to be born in County Cork, Ireland. First records of him are found in Wellington New Zealand. Patrick Clark/e was the son of Patrick Clark/e Senior and Elizabeth/Eliza Clark/e. Through a set of circumstances Patrick was committed at the age of 8.5-9 years of age in Wellington, New Zealand and committed to St. Mary's Orphanage, Nelson, New Zealand. At that time the name of his mother was given as Eliza Clarke. The boys of the Orphanage were later transferred to the Nelson Industrial School, Stoke, Nelson. To date no records are to be found on that School other than the Nominal Rolls which only give the name and the age of the child with no mention of the parents names. On Patrick's Intention to Marry 1905 record it stated that he was the son of the late Patrick Clark/e of Cork, Ireland. I have recorded everything I can on Patrick for his life until his death. I have been searching since 1969 trying everywhere I can to find more of Patrick's parents and where exactly he came from in County Cork, Ireland.
