Hello,
I am searching for records for my Great Great Grandmother who was born in Cork County. Her name was Johanna Terry, born on Oct 12th 1852 and her parents were John Terry and Nancy O'Connell. I am trying to locate any information available so I can find a record of her baptismal or birth certificate. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
James

Hi James,
Johannah does not turn up in parish records, the reason my be that certain records in Cork have not yet been transcribed.
There ia a baptism record for a Patrick Terry 1847 in Cork, father John, mother Ann Connell, I believe Nancy is a nickname for Ann.
Record here:
You register for free, records cost 5 euro.

Hi James
it might be worthwhile getting a copy of this birth cert. it should give where the parents are from. You are now a member of Terrys of Cork group on Facebook

Hi James,
Civil registration for Catholics started 1st January 1864, you are into parish records before that date.

Hi Brendan and Kevin,
I went and ordered the baptism record for a Patrick Terry 1847. The address shows "Old Court" and the Parish/District says LISGOOLD.
I've done a search about Lisgoold and it said Lisgoold (Irish: Lios C?il) is a small hamlet in East Cork. The community church is St. John the Baptist and falls in Lisgoold Parish.
Would this be the church that was descibed in the baptism record?
Thanks,
James
