I am looking for information on these two families, Sullivan and Casey. I'm guessing they were from Cork, maybe Kerry, but have not been able to accurately locate them. In the US, they were in Charlestown MA, Fall River, MA, Lawrence, MA and Manchester NH.
Jeremiah Sullivan (1832ish-1872): was my great great grandfather, came to Massachusetts around 1850 with his siblings Mary, Ellen and James. Records indicate Jeremiah may have been born sometime around 1832. His parents were listed on his death cert as Daniel and Nora Hanley.
Jeremiah's siblings:
Ellen married a James O'Neil and lived in Lawrence MA. She worked in the mills and died in a horrific mill accident in 1890. James abandoned his family at some point and Ellen took him to court for child support. Her daughter Margaret went on to become a teacher in the Lawrence Public Schools.
Mary married a John Sullivan but no info on him--she died in Lawrence, no children.
James married a Catherine Murphy and lived in Fall River, MA in the area known as Corky Row. I think there may have been others in Fall River as Ellen buried her 4 year old child in Lawrence in 1880 even though he died in Lawrence--that would have been quite a distance in those days. Corky Row got its name from the rather large number of people from Cork who settled there to work in the mills.
Jeremiah married Johanna Casey in the US, but I can't find out where or when.
Johanna (1841-1904): came to the US around 1846 with her mother Honora Sullivan Casey (about 1800-1889) and other family members, but I cannot be sure I have the right people in any of the records I've searched here. Her father was either James or John, depending on the source.
So far I've only been able to find Johanna's mother Honora in the 1880 NH census.
Jeremiah was a grocer and lived in Charlestown MA, Fall River MA and Manchester NH where he died in 1872. Johanna moved back to Charlestown where she supposedly ran a small grocery store until her death in 1904.
Only one of their children survived to adulthood, Frank DeSales Sullivan (1863-1940), who settled in Charlestown and is my great grandfather. They also had a son Daniel, born in Fall River who died as an infant, and a daughter Mary who died at the age of 10 or 11 of hip disease.
There is also a Timothy Sidley who pops up in church records as sponsors for Jeremiah's family, and I think he may have been a witness to Jeremiah's naturalization along with a Patrick Casey.
I've been back and forth through the US census records, street listings, graveyard records, and have not been able to find out where either of these families came from in Ireland. Someone in West Cork told me "you'll need a greyhound to find that line" when I said I was looking for Sullivans....
If anyone can point me in any direction, I'd appreciate it....I've been successful finding the origins of other branches of the family in Ireland (West Cork, Galway), but this particular branch continues to be elusive.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Christine:
You may want to try www.irishgenealogy.ie which has a good number of Co. Cork and Co. Kerry baptismal and marriages records from the 1800s. Maybe you can find Jeremiah's baptismal record. His mother's surname is not that common certainly compared to Sullivan and Casey.
