Can anyone tell me which parish the town of Hickey in County Cork is in? I can't figure it out from the list on this website. Thank you.

New to this website. I think my first try at message got lost. Trying to find parish for Town of Hickey in County Cork so I can connect.
Researching ancestor Margaret McCarthy (born @1830-1833) in town of Hickey. Marries at age of 27 in 1857 in Oakdale, Washington County, Minnesota to Christian John Abresch (Prussian) just as Minnesota becomes a state. Few records for women in the frontier days.
Have found her burial records in Catholic Cathedral of St Paul, MN founded by "the" famous Bishop John Ireland. She died 11 Apr 1863 probably after complications from childbirth. Her baby Charles survives 4 months and dies July 1863 and is buried next to her in same cemetery for Cathedral.
Margaret had three children: first born a son: William Cornelius, second born a daughter, Katherine, and third baby Charles who died.
Husband remarries within 5 months to another Irish girl, Mary Carroll. They have more children and she lives many years until she dies of Consumption. Husband remarries in his 60's to younger wife, a widow, and again fathers another child.
Having much difficulty finding siblings, parents, family of Margaret in any documents. Thought maybe searching in reverse from Hickey to America might help but I need to know which parish Hickey is in. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Kathleen:
There is no Hickey in Co. Cork or anywhere in Ireland. I looked at all the townlands for Co. Cork which start with an H and could not find a name somewhat to Hickey. I looked at www.irishgenealogy.ie which has a good number of baptisms from Co. Cork. I looked at the years 1830-1833 and although there were three-four Margaret McCarthys per year, none lived in a locale with a spelling like Hickey. What document do you have with Hickey mentioned?

Roger,
Thank you for your kind reply. As of yet, I do not have a "document" that says my ancestor came from Hickey. That is family lore passed down through generations as well as the County Cork part. I did see Hickey on a map in a store selling Irish things here in the St Paul/Minneapolis area where I live. Your findings or lack of, tell me to continue looking but to consider more closely the possibility that as often happens the family lore gets twisted along the way and that perhaps Margaret only left Ireland from County Cork (a very obvious possibility) and/or that she was from a town that sounded like Hickey, or Hickey doesn't exsist anymore/is renamed, or maybe she Americanized Hickey from Balleyhickey in County Clare? I don't know. Yet.
I will take a look at the baptisms you mentioned as well. They may prove helpful as I try to find more information here in the Twin Cities. I plan to make another visit to the Minnesota Geneological Society again. They have a very good library of Irish records for North America. That is where I found the burial record. Cathedral's records on microfilm.
Thanks again for your efforts, they are appreciated.

...or Balleyhickey, Tipperary?

Kathleen:
I looked at the location of both Ballyhickeys and neither border Co. Cork. Let me know if you find additional information and I will be glad to assist.
