  • Jeanne,

I think this could be your William Couche

William Couche born 10 January 1845 in Brigown, Mitchelstown, Co. Cork, parents William Couche a shoemaker, mother Ellen, the family lived in Baldwin Street, Brigown. Denomination: Church of Ireland.

William Couche senior died on the 4th December 1849 at the age of 38 in Brigown, cause of death: fever, last address Kingston Road Brigown

The closest match I can find for Mary Anne McCarthy is: Mary Anne McCarthy baptised 2e August 1846 in Glanworth about 15 from Mitchelstown, father Edmond, mother Elizabeth Donovan. Denomination: Roman Catholic.

This might be the death of relation who remained living at the family address where your William was born:  Ellen Constance Couche death 24 July 1869 Brigown, place of death Balwin Street, Brigown, under one year old at the time of her death

  • Thankyou Mallow

This information  has been most helpful allowing me to help anothe family also with their Richard Couche (bn 1838)  from  Mitchelstownwho also was born in cork and located near or with William couche.( born 1845)

Ironically William Couche's  first child was named edward browning couche  and the same middle name  is used in one of  Richard couche children  too so I passes on your info to her too which really helped which I will elain

I then  found Richards details on the immigration records for Victoria and when checked by my contach  found Richards wife Margaret Crone  was accomanied by her parents an Elizabeth Browning and father a Timothy or Daniel. Crone

This explains the name Browning in both Richards and Williams Couche's  childrens names but how does it exlain my Ellen Crone born about 1817 as the mother for my William Couche  1845 my gggrandfather

Do you think my Ellen Crone is also Elizabeth Browning both would have been born about the same time. Elizabeth Browning  Crone  ALSO returned to Mitchelstown when her husband died in Australia which may affect things

Elizabeth browning Crone and her husband I found on  an anscetry rootsweb site was also related to Clutterbuck Crone named as a family of  distinction in The Peerage pages.

Do you think my Ellen CRONE about 1817  my ggggrandmother  was  the mother of  both Richard 1838 and William  Couche 1845 ? How coudl I find out this information please as it is quite interesting the link?

    Best wishes

    Jeanne
