  • Hi, Anne, thanks for your request.  I have put most of the dates and connections in my origninal post.  I only know of where two of those mentioned ended up. My gxgrandfather came to Queensland in 1877. He was born 1854. Of all his siblings I only know what Patrick David (McCarthy) Barry, an older brother b.1852, did.   He stayed in Midleton and took over his father Patrick's shoemaking business in Main St. Midleton. He died there in 1925 and is buried in the Holy Rosary cemetery.  The details on him were supplied some 12 y ago by a lady called Maireed who lived in Midleton. She knew somebody who knew, as a child, knew Patrick David.   She was going to find out more but didn't ever get back to me. The information about Patrick Sr. and his 1841 marriage (although they had three children before marriage) to Kate McCarthy was supplied to me by the late Canon Bertie Troy of Midleton. Unfortunately, it seems the Midleton Parish records don't go back far enough to record Patrick Sr's birth assuming he was born in Midleton. He may have been born closer to where his wife Kate was from, Churchtown in Cloyne parish.   I don't know the fate of any of the other siblings or indeed, of Patrick Sr and Kate.    Regards, Don Barry Brisbane, Queensland.
