Unfortunately, I have not heard further from Grace Fox.

I had hoped she might have a real lead regarding Patrick Barry b.ca.1803, shoemaker of Main St, Midleton, Cork and his son Patrick David (McCarthy) Barry who apparently took over his shoemaking business. Patrick Sr was married to Kate McCarthy of ChT (?Churchtown) and Kate's mother was Elizabeth Barry, so this lot of McCarthy/Barrys were interlinked. Kate had a brother Garrett after whom my great grandfather Garrett Barry (son of Patrick and Kate) was presumably named.

I am wondering what info. you have on the Barry's? Have you an age for your  great grandfather Garrett Barry son of Patrick and Kate?

The reason i ask is that the 1842 Census for Midleton has the following family and in 1848

Was Garrett born after 1848?

The only gravestone in the Holy Rosary Cementary that seems to apply to the family is no.6 in section K. which reads 

In Loving Memory / of / Johannah / the devoted wife of / Patrick Mc Carthy Barry / Died 7th April 1908  / Aged 57 years  / Patrick Mc Carthy Barry / Died 9th Aug. 1925 / Aged 73 / Never did a heart more faithful / throb within a human breast / than the one now stilled forever / passed onto eternal rest  / R.I.P.
