Hello,
I'm posting this message just in case anyone out there has Curtin research from Newmarket. My GGG grandfather was Michael Curtin who was born about 1820 in Newmarket. His parents were Daniel Curtin and Julia Browne. Michael emmigrated to the US during the fammine, settled in Arena Wisconsin and married Mary O'Brien in 1859. He seems to have come over with other Curtins, but I haven't been able to establish a family connection to them. They might have been cousins. Their names were Cornelius and Maurice. They all settled near each other in Wisconsin.
Searching parish records, I was able to find a Michael Curtin who was a witness to the marriage of Patrick Figney in 1846, but found no records of Michael's birth or of his parent's marriage. I fear I have hit a brick wall, but am hoping that someone out there has information on the family!
Thanks,
Karen
