A James Driscoll of N C Lane was baptised in Clonakilty on 26 November 1829 to parents Jerry and Mary Driscoll. I believe that James was my Great Grandfather who emigrated to Bristol, England. He died in 1904 and is buried in Bristol. His son Daniel moved to Newport in South Wales. That is where my father Leo was born and where I was born and raised.
I am trying to determine if this James was my Great Grandfather and to establish a connection to any living descendants of this family. I do not know if James had any brothers or sisters. I found the baptism record in Church Records on Irish Genealogy web site.

Hi Mary,
Thank you for your message. I hope that someone with information makes a connection with you.
In the meantime have you tried using the Irish Genealogy website to see if you can find any possible siblings? You could also try using the land acts pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century to try and track the family. There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Civil registration began in Ireland in 1864 so any births, deaths or marriages in the family after this date would be recorded in these records. Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office. Here are their contact details:

You can search the indexes to these records up to 1958 online at:

Have you tried looking in the census records to see if there was any possible family in the area at the time? If not you can do so here: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/
It may also be an idea to contact the Skibbereen Heritage Centre for some possible assistance. Please note that a fee may apply. Here is their email: skibbheritage1@gmail.com
