I am seeking relatives of Patrick Dennis Keefe, son of Mary Coffey Keefe and Dennis Keefe, car driver. Born 1864. Parents resided in Knocka _ _ _ _ _ _ (looks like Knockahogan on the birth certificate).
Thank you.

Hi Kathleen
Thank you for your message.
I cannot find a reference to Knockahogan. If you look at a list of the townlands in Whitechurch parish you can see that the two possibilities are Knockaneag and Knockanroe.
Have you tried looking in the 1901/1911 census records to see if there was any family still in the area at the time? You can search these online here:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
Also, you can search the indexes of civil records up to 1958 online. Perhaps you may be able to find some records relating to the Keefe?s in these:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347
Do you have any other information that you can share? Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,

Hi Emma,
Thank you for this information. I recently learned that the townland was actually Knocknahorgan, in Whitechurch.
I will dig into the records you referenced. I have just seen in another post that the name of the parish priest might be:
Address: The Parochial House, Blarney
Phone: 00353 21-4385105
Mobile: 00353 87-6561048
Email: williambermingham@eircom.netand there was a reference in that post to the old R.C. Cemetery on Church Road in Whitechurch. Perhaps I should take a drive during my days in Cork to visit this cemetery?
Would it be a good idea to contact the parish priest by e-mail and ask for an appointment to see any records he might have from the 1864-1900 time frame?
You help is much appreciated.

Hi Kathleen,
Thank you for getting back to me.
Yes it is definitely a good idea to try to contact the parish priest to arrange an appointment. Hopefully he will be able to assist you.
A useful website when it comes to Catholic church records is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes.Whitechurch civil parish belongs to Blarney Catholic parish. To see what is available there follow this link:
As you can see from the above link there are copies available in Mallow Heritage Centre. If you would like to contact them here is their email address, please note that a fee may apply for their services:
